Gorvy Lecture Theatre Londra, mercoledì 23 maggio “Call for Artists” Aristic Residencies

Ingresso libero. Prenotare qui.
In recent years international residencies have proliferated. Both public institutions and private philantropists have recognised the variety of crosspolinations that such platforms can create. Residencies might involve spending time in a different setting than the usual one. Artists have been lodging on islands, ships, modernist buildings and more. These physical displacements create a unique suspended time for artists to think, read, explore, discuss, produce, process and talk about art. Together with the founders of some international artistic residencies; we will challenge the say “none is prophet in his country” –and think about the ways these platforms might unlock cultural exchanges. Join us to discuss artistic residencies’ different formats, their impact and outlines with some of the directors of foundations and residencies programmes: Sarah Elson from Launch Pad an itinerary residency programme; Annie Ratti from the Ratti Foundation in Como, Italy and Frances Reynolds from the Inclusartiz Insitute in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The evening will be introduced and moderated by Ilaria Puri Purini, Curator of Programmes at the Contemporary Art Society.

The event takes place at Gorvy Lecture Theatre - Dyson Building - 1 Hester Road - London SW11 4AN and is organised in collaboration with the School of Arts and Humanities of the Royal College of Art.
